Millions of football fans get their football fix through www.cable.org and a whole host of other vendors and providers. Something so popular couldn’t possibly have any negative connotations tied to it, right?

Well, such is apparently not the case and, in a time where the sports world has been absolutely plagued by scandal, football has really borne the brunt of it all when it comes to scrutiny and attention. A record-number of players were removed this year alone relating to drug use and that’s not counting all the players that were removed due to domestic disturbances and even murder.

Crackdowns have been on the rise in response to these, but it does little to address the very real problem with football – it has become less about the love of the game and more about decadence.

Players aren’t always out there to better themselves and do what they love – some of them only care about the money and the endorsements. The NFL has become a low-risk, high-reward engine and far too many players are receiving far too much, far too soon.

This is creating a very poor attitude, a decline in the spirit of sportsmanship and an overall lack of integrity in athletes. Until these things change, the crackdowns aren’t going anywhere.

While they may look like relatively the same game, there are several major differences between college and professional football. All of the differences are slight rule changes to make the game easier and safer for the younger players.

The biggest change between the games comes when the players may no longer advance the ball. If you accidentally slip without being touched and part of your leg hits the ground in college football, then the play is over. If you do the same thing in professional football, then you can get Read the rest of this entry…

The top four NFL coaches heading into 2012 can be summed up with ease. They include Tom Coughlin, Bill Belichick, Mike Tomlin and Mike McCarthy.

Tom Coughlin has won two Super Bowls over the past four years. How many NFL coaches throughout history can say they’ve done that? Not many. What makes this even more impressive is that it was done in New York, where the media often calls for a coach’s head after every loss. Coughlin was on the chopping block many times, but he narrowly escaped every time.

Bill Belichick sports three Super Bowl wins and Read the rest of this entry…

Autumn is right around the corner, and with it — football! The preseason is well underway, and whether you’re a fan or dragged to the TV kicking and screaming, you know somehow the game is in your marrow, woven in the fabric of American life.

It would be hard to declare with certainty and without garnering vehement rebuttal which were and are the greatest teams in the NFL. You could make a good case for one of the battered, bruised Rust Belt stalwarts — the Packers, Lions, Bengals. How about the Read the rest of this entry…

Today’s NFL stadiums are about architecture, entertainment and commercial development. With that in mind, here are the top five most expensive NFL stadiums.

MetLife Stadium

The Jets and Giants share this stadium that cost 1.6 billion. It is not surprising that a football stadium in New York would cost this much when Yankee Stadium cost about the same price.

Cowboy Stadium

When Jerry Jones builds a stadium for the Dallas Cowboys, you know it will be big. Cowboy Stadium features a retractable roof and a video board that is 60 yards long. The price tag? A cool 1.5 million. Read the rest of this entry…
